An idea that started in January 2021 has created a new ministry opportunity in a rapidly growing North Texas community. Read about the Walls family and their faithfulness in serving the Lord.
Roger and Amanda Walls have been active members of the HCA community for many years! Their three kids attend school here, two in high school and one in elementary, while Amanda is our Gifted and Talented Specialist and Honors Academic Team Coordinator. She also started our Gifted and Talented program several years ago and has guided our students to great success at the local, state, and global levels of Destination Imagination. This family is committed to furthering God's Kingdom through education and church ministry.
So, how does a church get started?
Faith, Dedication, Hard-work, and Prayer. It seems easy enough, but the process of putting everything together is exhausting! Just ask the Walls family about their recent experience launching a church. Roger, Amanda, and their three kids decided in January 2021 to establish Venture Church – Northwest. While this decision only happened ten months ago, the idea of planting a church has been on their hearts for a long time. The calling to pastor a church started long ago as Roger and Amanda both felt called to serve in ministry since high school. Their specific journey through various ministry opportunities relied heavily on trusting God and following his direction.
What was the timeline for launching the church?
In 2001, God called Roger and Amanda to begin attending Harvest Church, where they eventually served on staff there. In 2018, Harvest Church became Venture Church, and not long after that, God began to place the call and desire to plant another Venture Campus in the Northwest Fort Worth Area. Roger and Amanda felt God calling them to lead the church and were ready to jump in feet first, but the Lord's timing was different. Due to the pandemic, the Walls Family faithfully waited and prayed for God to prepare the way at just the right time. January 2021, after literal years of prayers and waiting, the first meeting for Venture Northwest was held.
Where is this church located?
Venture Church – Northwest is located in Haslet, TX, and meets at JC Thompson Elementary school. Why was this community a good location for a new church? In the area, there are 91 different home builders currently building new homes for young families. Future growth predictions show that Alliance Airport could eventually be the center of the metroplex. A variety of needs arise in any growing community. This church family emphasizes its intent to serve families of Northwest ISD, which currently has a significant population of food-insecure children and lower-income areas. Venture Church – Northwest exists to help others. To remind them of this calling, they created a simple yet powerful motto: #WeAreHereToServe
What does Sunday morning look like for the church?
It's not easy, but it's worth the effort! Every Sunday, volunteers unload two trailers full of equipment and transform a school cafeteria and gymnasium into a worship center and childcare for Infants to 5th Grade. It takes around 80 volunteers to set up, serve, and create a welcoming environment each week. This past Sunday starting at 10:00 am, 100+ adults and children attended Venture Church- Northwest to worship and learn about God through a sermon by Pastor Roger Walls. By noon, all of the equipment is taken down, loaded into trailers, and hauled off by the dedicated and hard-working volunteers, including several HCA families!
We love hearing about the incredible ways our school community serves the Lord and makes a difference for His Kingdom daily. We appreciate the Walls family and their commitment to ministry and helping others.
